| What: | Minister Kwinter, Fire Marshal Moyle and OAFC President Rob Browning will
open the new facilities at the Ontario Fire College in Gravenhurst. Following the
opening ceremonies, a number of demonstrations of the new facilities will be held.

| Why: | In response to the events of September 11, 2001, the Ontario Fire College received funding to build an emergency management-training centre for firefighters and emergency responders. The expanded facilities include a new fire hall complex incorporating an Emergency Operations Centre that facilitates inter-agency training exercises, five new vehicle bays for fire trucks and emergency vehicles, and a classroom providing for the timely linking of knowledge-based learning and practical, hands-on learning; a new auditorium that can hold 300 people and be divided into two smaller classrooms; and a new library resource centre for fire service student-learners. | |
