TORONTO, ON, Thursday, November 11, 2004 --
Office of the Fire Marshal staff continue to work diligently to investigate
the circumstances surrounding the fatal fire that claimed eight lives in
West Lincoln on the night of Monday, November 8.
Eight bodies, seven children and their mother, have been recovered from the
heavily damaged home. Because of the severe damage, the investigation is
proceeding slowly. The severe damage poses a significant challenge to the
Office of the Fire Marshal team of six fire investigators and two fire
investigative engineers.
Nevertheless, the team will continue to examine every aspect of the scene in
an attempt to determine the cause and circumstances surrounding this tragic
fire.
Due to the sensitivity of this arduous task, the team will be unable to
provide media access to the site.
Details of the investigation will be released publicly as soon as they
become available.
