Compact Disk (CD-ROM)
The compact disk contains 22 PowerPoint files. The CD-ROM can be used as a tool for self-study or to make a PowerPoint slide presentation to a group. Details on using the CD-ROM are provided in the User's Guide. Each module has an introductory slide listing the topics or subject matter covered in the module. The second slide lists the learning outcomes for the module. The last slide provides a summary of the main points covered in the module. The content is provided on the slides inbetween. There is a quiz at the end of each module. Questions and answers relate to the subject matter covered in the module. The quiz provides a measure of the learner's understanding of the module subject.
Hard Copy Binders
One binder contains teaching outline/notes that a facilitator/presenter can use to deliver the information to participants. The second binder contains four case studies, including blank and completed Audit Guides. The case studies cover warehouse, process plant, laboratory and retail occupancies. The case studies provide the user with an opportunity to apply the knowledge acquired in the modules to real-life scenarios. The objective of each case study is to assess an occupancy to determine compliance with Part 4 of the Fire Code.
Videotape
The videotape contains video footage of walk-through inspections of four occupancies where flammable or combustible liquids are stored, handled or processed. The four occupancies are process plant, warehouse, retail and laboratory. The videotape complements the binder information.
User's guide
The user's guide provides additional information to assist the user as to how each of the 21 modules is structured, how the case study may be used and how to use the CD-ROM including hardware and software requirements.
Hardware and Software
An IBM compatible PC running on a Windows 95 or newer operating system is required for the information package. Microsoft's PowerPoint software in the Office 95 or newer version is also required.
The CD-ROM can also be run on Office 98 for Macintosh-based computers.
In the absence of PowerPoint software, the CD-ROM has a "read only" version to run the slide show. However, the "read only" version lacks some of the PowerPoint features.
