HOTEL FIRE SAFETY REQUIREMENT
IN THE ONTARIO FIRE CODE
(External Distribution)
The Office of the Fire Marshal has prepared a new partial consolidation of the
Ontario Fire Code, Ontario Regulation 388/97, incorporating the changes made
with the filing of Ontario Regulation 144/06 on May 3, 2006. This publication,
entitled Hotel Fire Safety Requirements in the Ontario Fire
Code highlights the amendments made to bring hotels under Fire Code
requirements and to remove all reference to the Hotel Fire
Safety Act and its regulations.
This publication contains Parts 1, 2, 6, 7, 8 and 9 of the Fire Code as they
read on the date of publication of the partial consolidation, that is, August
29, 2006. Some portions of the text are shaded; these are the actual amendments
pertaining to hotel fire safety requirements, which will come into force on
January 1, 2007, or later as specified in the compliance dates noted in Article
9.1.3.1.
This partial consolidation is intended for hotel owners and other stakeholders
to inform them in a timely manner of the hotel fire safety requirements and
compliance dates. Copies are available for purchase from Publications Ontario.
