The Office of the Fire Marshal (OFM) has developed a guideline to assist property owners in the preparation of a Life Safety Study under Subsection 9.1.4. (Retrofit) of the Ontario Fire Code. Fire departments are encouraged to provide this information to architects and professional engineers who prepare Life Safety Studies to ensure that these proposals are prepared properly before being submitted to the Chief Fire Official. Fire departments may also wish to provide this information to property owners who are considering a Life Safety Study to achieve compliance with the Fire Code. In addition, this guideline should prove helpful to the Chief Fire Official during the review and approval process.
