The Ontario Municipal Fire Prevention Officers’ Association, on behalf of the Fire Marshal’s Public Fire Safety Council, would like to announce an update to the Alarmed For Life Program. American Sensors’ new handheld Carbon Monoxide Meter (Model ECD 9140), which replaces its previous model, is now available to the fire service. A revised Order Form is attached to this Communiqué.
To date, the Alarmed For Life program has sold:
| Item | No. Sold |
|---|---|
| Regular Smoke Alarms | 7,398 |
| Ten Year Smoke Alarms | 3,651 |
| Carbon Monoxide Detectors | 4,858 |
| Batteries | 20,691 |
| Hand Held Meters | 40 |
Many fire departments and associations or groups are involved with the program. Alarmed for Life has raised approximately $78,000.00, which the Council uses to support public fire safety programs in Ontario. The Alarmed For Life program is a life saving initiative designed to reduce fire deaths and injuries in the community. Its success depends on the participation of all fire departments which are encouraged to become involved in this program. Alarmed For Life provides an excellent fund raising opportunity for fire departments to promote fire safety in their communities. Furthermore, fire departments retain half of all the proceeds raised through this valuable program.
