PRODUCT RECALL: KIDDE COMBINATION SMOKE AND CARBON MONOXIDE ALARMS

Communiqué 2016-18

November 252016

Front of unit with wire connectorsOn November 10, 2016, Kidde, Health Canada and the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission jointly issued a recall of two models of the Kidde Nighthawk hard-wired combination smoke and carbon monoxide (CO) alarms: model KN‑COSM-IBCA (with battery backup) and model KN-COSM-ICA (without battery backup).  The recalled alarms were manufactured between June 1, 2004, and March 2011.

Under certain circumstances, the alarm can fail to continue to chirp when it reaches its end of life (after seven years), leading consumers to believe that it is still working.
