FPPA Opinions & Applications

The opinions on this page have been developed by the Office of the Fire Marshal to assist municipalities and the fire service in applying the Fire Protection and Prevention Act, 1997. Each opinion contains the relevant text extracted from the Act, a brief statement of the intent, and a series of questions and answers to show how it might apply in different situations.
Part IX of the Act, entitled "Firefighters: Employment and Labour Relations", is administered by the Ministry of Labour. Therefore any requests for opinions or clarification respecting Part IX should be addressed to the nearest office of the Ministry of Labour.
