| Q1: | In the Commentary On Changes to the Ontario Fire Code Retrofit Section 9.8 (Ontario Regulation 385/94), there is a description relating to this type of membrane which can be accepted as providing a 15 min fire-resistance rating. Is there any further information or reference materials regarding information on plaster board covered with a plaster skim coat? This would be useful in assisting inspection staff to differentiate between this membrane, gypsum board and lath and plaster. | |
| A1: | The use of plaster board is referenced in the HUD No. 8 Guideline on Fire Ratings of Archaic Materials and Assemblies. For the purpose of Section 9.8, plaster board may be any prefabricated board of any thickness consisting of cement, clay or plaster like material that is not readily identified as gypsum board. |
