“MAKING ONTARIO A SAFER PLACE FROM FIRE.”
March 1, 2009
Dear Fire Chief:
The Office of the Fire Marshal is now accepting nominations for the 2009 Fire
Safety Awards, sponsored by the Fire Marshal’s Public Fire Safety Council. This
is your chance to nominate those dedicated individuals and organizations in your
community that deserve to be recognized for their outstanding contributions to fire
safety.
Public education programs and initiatives are making a difference
in preventing fire fatalities. In the hope of continuing to reduce fire losses in
Ontario, we must continue our focus and commitment to fire and education programs
in all of our communities across the province. To promote this, it is vital to recognize
the special people in your community who have contributed to the success of local
fire safety education and prevention efforts.
You now have until
April 30, 2009 to nominate individuals or organizations
for the following awards:
Eligible nominees are individuals or organizations (such as corporations, service clubs or media) that have partnered with fire services by providing time, expertise and resources in support of fire safety in the community.
Eligible nominees are children aged 16 and under who have demonstrated fire safety knowledge by taking appropriate action to prevent or mitigate a potentially hostile fire situation.
As you know, successful partnerships do not occur without the resourcefulness and
efforts of the fire department. With this in mind, this year we will also be recognizing
the fire department for their role in facilitating successful Fire Safety Award
nominations.
- Please note that fire services
personnel are not eligible for an award.
Please submit nomination
forms by April 30, 2009 to:
