The Office of the Fire Marshal has released a revised
edition of the guide on the safe use of alcohol-based
hand rub (ABHR) in care and treatment occupancies. The
guide has been updated in response to submissions from
fire service stakeholders, the Ontario Ministry of
Health and Long-Term Care, and the Ontario Hospital
Association to clarify installation of ABHR dispensers
at each point of care, and for consistency with criteria
established by the National Fire Protection Association
and the International Fire Code. The revised edition
will be posted as a DRAFT until May 31, 2009.
