Key Responsibilities

  • Assist municipal fire departments in meeting their legislated public education responsibilities by developing fire safety programs, initiatives and resources, and providing training, advice and assistance
  • Coordinate all media enquiries, interviews, news conferences, media advisories and news releases for the Office of the Fire Marshal
  • Develop and produce public service announcements on public safety issues for distribution to all Ontario newspapers, radio stations and television stations
  • Provide administrative and technical assistance to the Fire Marshal's Public Fire Safety Council
  • Manage awards programs
  • Administer, facilitate and evaluate the Public Fire and Life Safety Educators' Certificate Program
  • Publish the Public Education Matters e-notice
