Data Collection on Occupational Stress Injuries/Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder Programs and Services

Communiqué 2016-03

January 7, 2016

The Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services (MCSCS) is preparing an overview of existing occupational stress injuries/post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) programs and services for first responders, including best practices.

The Office of the Fire Marshal and Emergency Management (OFMEM) is reaching out to municipal fire departments across the province. The purpose of the attached MCSCS questionnaire is to collect data on what services, programs and training are currently available to fire departments for the prevention and treatment of occupational stress injuries, particularly PTSD.

The OFMEM asks fire departments to complete and return the questionnaire by January 22, 2016, via e-mail, to MCS.PPD.RESEARCHSRV@ontario.ca.

Fire service cooperation is greatly appreciated.
