Unapproved Infrared Saunas

The Electrical Safety Authority (ESA) is notifying the public about electrical safety issues associated with a non-certified Infrared Saunas sold at various retail outlets across Ontario.

These Saunas have not been tested by a recognized certification or field evaluation agency and do not bear a certification or field evaluation mark.

ESA has received a report of a heater running very hot and smoking in one of these devices.

Our investigation identified potential electric shock and fire hazards associated with the use of these saunas, and they include:

The Electrical Safety Authority strongly advises against purchasing one of these unapproved saunas, and to stop using it and unplug it immediately if one has already been purchased.
