OPEN TO: A LITTLE GIRL’S BEDROOM. CAMERA PANS AROUND THE ROOM AND WE SEE MANY OF HER FAVOURITE THINGS: PHOTOS OF HER DOING GYMNASTICS, CHILDREN’S BOOKS, STUFFED ANIMALS, DOLLS, ETC. CAMERA CONTINUES TO PAN ACROSS THE ROOM TO THE BED. EMILY’S MOTHER IS SITTING ON THE BED, WITH HER HEAD IN HER HANDS. FADE UP SUPER: You must have working smoke alarms in your home. It’s the law. ANNCR: This is Emily’s new room. After the fire, her Mom rearranged it with many of her favourite things. These are Emily’s cuddly stuffed animals. These are Emily’s dance awards. And these are Emily’s favourite books. The only thing missing is Emily. Because her parents never checked to see that the smoke alarms were working.
