Revised Terrorism/Hazardous Materials Awareness Self-Study
Course For First Responders in Ontario
The
Terrorism/Hazardous Materials Awareness for First
Responders in Ontario: Self-Study was revised in 2010 to
reflect current policy and practice, and to include updated
resources such as the
Emergency Response Guidebook
(ERG 2008). This course was initially developed in response
to ongoing concerns for public safety as a result of
hazardous materials incidents and potential threats and acts
of terrorism. Revisions were made in consultation with
multi-agency stakeholders.
This updated course meets
NFPA 472, Standard for Competence of Responders to Hazardous Materials /Weapons of Mass Destruction Incidents Awareness Level, (2008
Edition) and specifies competencies for first responders
who respond to hazardous materials incidents at the awareness
level. Although this course was designed for multi-agency first
responders (from fire, police, ambulance/emergency health and
other first response agencies) all those interested in public
safety may take it.
Participants who complete this
course and submit the required application in the appendix
will receive a certificate from the Ontario Fire College.
